The Dan Davin Literary Foundation Annual Writing Awards.
In 2018 the Adult Literary Award is for Poetry Writing.
General Conditions of Entry
Writers must:
- Live in or have a home address in the Southland province or in the Queenstown, Glenorchy, Arrowtown, Tapanui and Heriot areas.
- Complete the entry form by clicking the REGISTER button below then email your Entry to dandavin1913@gmail.com by 5.00pm on 27 July 2018.
Writers in the Junior and Senior/Under 19 sections, do not need to have a teacher sign their entries.
Adults must pay a $5.00 entry fee by post to Dan Davin Literary Foundation, PO Box 29, Invercargill 9840
or by bank transfer to 03-1746-0078140-000. Please put your name in the particulars.
- There is no entry fee for the other awards.
- Entries must not defame any person or corporate body nor infringe or breach any rights of copyright.
- The Dan Davin Literary Foundation reserves the right to publish any place getting writing entered in the competitions.
- The judge's decisions are final.

1 Junior Literary Award 2018
Open to Year 7 - 10 students studying at a Secondary School
2 Under 19 and Senior Student Literary Award 2018
Open to people under 19 (as of 31st of December, 2018) and Year 11 - 13 Secondary students
3 Adult Literary Award 2018
Entry fee $5.00
- Your entry should be original and unpublished.
- Your entry should be completed as a ‘Word Document’ with double line spacing and in a clear 12 pt font. (Do not put your name on the Word Document).
1 Junior Literary Award 2018
Open to Year 7 - 10 students studying at a Secondary School
- Short Story must contain between 1,000 - 1,500 words. Please indicate final word count at the end of your story.
2 Under 19 and Senior Student Literary Award 2018
Open to people under 19 (as of 31st of December, 2018) and Year 11 - 13 Secondary students

Presentation of the Awards
This year the Judges will report on the Literary Awards Competition and announce the winners at a function on Friday 31 August 2018.
